LUNA ZYX

♦ VISUAL: 5'0", lightweight, has both human and insect characteristics. Her face is close to pure white in complexion, but all other visible parts of her skin are a jet-black chitinous substance, like the limbs of an insect. Her eyes are weirdly large, and have the same texture as the compound eyes of an insect, although the lids over them are more humanlike. She has the wings of a moth, but they're usually folded behind her and hidden under her clothing. Wardrobe is varied and expensive, but focuses around light colors and unnecessary details, with her signature item being a bulky white fur coat, looking as if its purpose is to make her look bigger than she is.
♦ AUDITORY: High-pitched voice, with an odd buzz to it. Chitinous fingers make a distinctive clicking noise when she touches things. Usually has a casual tone to her speech, as if she's chatting about something totally unimportant.
♦ PSYCHIC: Fast-paced and packed with anxiety. Some greater looming threat related to her family is always prowling around in the back of her thoughts. She's not nearly as carefree as she comes across in conversation - she just pretends that she isn't feeling those feelings until she can't anymore.
♦ MAGICAL: Luna is a Wave Controller - her own magical abilities are relatively minute, but she's capable of quite a bit by drawing energy out of the atmosphere around her. Her specialty is energy transferrence, and it could read as non-elemental, or evocation.
♦ MEDICAL: How much do you know about Moth physiology? She's had her share of past injuries, and her body composition is pretty substantially different from a human's. Her body has more in common with a male moth than a female moth, a fact that she'll thank you not to bring up.

IC Information

Character name: Luna Zyx
Character canon: Original (Tower of Valor)
Canon point: Two months after the fall of Holy Grail
Physical Description:

Note: The 'original' canon is loosely based on the manhwa "Tower of God", similarly to how Signe's Original setting is based on Bleach. A quick overview of the distinction:
Similar:
- Setting takes place in a giant tower of world-sized floors
- Some people gain the opportunity to become "Regulars", who climb the Tower in order to reach the top and have their wishes granted
- People who have reached the top become Rankers, and run a series of life-or-death "tests" that Regulars must pass in order to advance past each floor
- Combat is performed via a mysterious energy in the air that gets thicker as you climb the Tower
- General narrative tone - huge, sweeping mysteries and revelations about the world, challenging forces far beyond yourselves in power
- The existence of "Great Houses" which have huge influence within the Tower

Different:
- The fundamental nature of said mystery energy
- The way that people become Regulars
- The nature of the organization that the Rankers belong to
- The identities of all major players within the Tower
- The content of all floors and the structure of the world

I'll leave it to you to decide whether to count it as a canon OC or an OC canon.

About the Character:
The Tower is a chain of connected realms, any one of which could be a person's entire world. A vanishingly small number of its citizens are chosen by the Tower Authority to become "Regulars", starting on Floor 1 and climbing up the Tower to the top, in exchange for an audience with God, who will grant their wish. Within the Tower are five Great Houses, families of incredible power and influence - Gungjeon, Ra, Yang, Grimm, and Zyx. In the last of these, Lynchis Zyx and Juniper Zyx had a child, who they named Atlas Zyx.

The brutal world of House Zyx is a tree with many branches, all but the strongest of which are trimmed. If anyone shows insufficient promise, they are executed before their weak genes can spread. Only partners of sufficient genetic value are permitted to marry into the house. So, while Atlas was growing up, she always felt the pressure of those expectations bearing down on her. Excelling in all challenges, nonstop training, never showing weakness - these were all very real necessities for survival. She rapidly developed a habit of staying quiet about any doubts or struggles, instead acting as if this brutal life were a walk in the park for her. All her material needs or wants were easily met due to her incredibly rich family, but she had a very sheltered upbringing, barely ever even leaving the Zyx Estate grounds. However, all of that changed when the mysterious entity Efu approached her, offering to make her a Regular.

Atlas agreed, and left her life on Floor 66 behind, being transported to Floor 1 to begin the seemingly endless gauntlet that is the Ascent. She stood head and shoulders above her fellow Regulars regularly, clearing the early floors quickly, but as she did, she also reveled in this chance to experience life beyond her draconian family's territory. She met many people from all walks of life, learned more and more about the countless ways different people live their lives, and came to fully understand how restrictive her upbringing had been in dictating who she would be, and what failure or success meant. This meant that she could, for the next 65 Floors, be whoever she wanted.

Thus, Atlas Zyx discarded much of the person she used to be and the life she used to lead, and became Luna Zyx, presenting as feminine for the first time (the paperwork to register the name change with the Tower Authority would take months to process). She continued to dominate all of her challengers and foes easily, right up until Floor 13. The 13F test required a team of five, and circumstance led her to team up with four comparitive strangers - a pair of mercenaries named Net and Sa, a weapon hunter named Cola, and an old machine lifeform named Alexander 12. They faced off against another team of five in a complex Nexus Defense Game, with Luna acting as her team's ace. In the middle lane, she faced off against two members of the opposing team - Eleanor Delacroix and Ragnarok Skygrass. There, she faced her first defeat.

The prospect of rival Regulars capable of giving her a run for her money was exciting, but any excitement was tempered by the same source as most of her stress - the ever-present thought that her family would be evaluating her performance when she got back to Floor 66. If she suffered too many failures, climbed too slowly, or otherwise disappointed House Zyx, she could be facing death when she returned. That thought is never far from Luna's mind, but same as always, she addresses this point of stress by aggressively pretending it isn't there. So, the more the thought of facing her family troubles her, the more carefree she acts.

After her loss on 13F, Luna began traveling with Alexander 12. If asked, she would have said that the old man needed someone to look after him, but the fact of the matter was that her brutal upbringing had left her without a proper father figure, and Alexander 12's erstwhile son had left him without anyone to fuss over. So, they continued their respective ascents together as friends, having all kinds of adventures and encounters as the floors and months went by. It wasn't until Floor 48 when she crossed paths with the team that had once defeated her again. While she was hazy on some of the details, and pretty drunk during their explanation, it seemed that they were preparing to head out to confront the leader of some kind of cult, or evil organization, or something. That sounded great to her, so this time, she lend her services to them as an ally instead of facing them as a rival.

The battle against Holy Grail was long and involved, but Luna's part in it was brief. She fought alongside Ragnarok, her former rival, as they took on Aglovale of the Four Saints, a strange enemy who got stronger the more certaint she became of her own defeat. After that, she was unfortunately separated from the others by a quirk of dimensional teleportation, and by the time she could make it back to the site of the battle, Holy Grail's director Xibalba had already been defeated. With that resolved, she parted ways with them to continue her own journey up the Tower, and closer to her family's home floor.

Luna's life is, as it stands now, one of self-discovery and exploration. When she left the confines of House Zyx, she began to realize how little she knew of the world, and of how much she was holding herself back by only being the person who her family expected her to be. She takes delight in new experiences, no matter how mundane, and is willing to throw out any part of herself if she thinks she can find more happiness by changing herself. Overshadowing all of it is an anxiety about her future - not only the question of whether or not her family will find her labors acceptable, but also the question of whether or not the family that raised her should even be allowed to continue to exist in its current state. The further she gets from her past, the more she realizes how monstrous it is, and how cruel of a person she could have become - and by extension, how many monsters her family must have created by now.

It's a problem that she faces like most of her serious, existential problems - by pretending it isn't there. Eventually, she's going to have to confront her family's bloody legacy face to face.

Character abilities:
Luna is what is known as a Wave Controller, someone who specializes in the manipulation of Arche. Arche is an energy field that pervades the atmosphere all throughout the Tower, becoming denser as one ascends. The true nature of Arche - that it is the will of the God who created the Tower - is known to few, but tapping into it is a common skill, and among experts is capable of nearly anything. However, all Wave Controllers have their specialties, and Luna's is energy redirection. She can drain energy from others to make herself more powerful, create intense heat or intense cold, or even manipulate gravity to a limited degree. Her powers also include a variety of Arche-based energy attacks, from launching blades through the air to summoning a thicket of spears of light from the ground. Her ultimate technique, Shattered Eclipse, drains energy out of the air over a huge area in order to create a field around herself not unlike a black hole of Arche, which then explodes in all directions in a violent catastrophe of black fire.

By the standards of the world she comes from, Luna is exceptionally powerful, but far from the top. By Floor 50, her fellow Regulars are starting to catch up to her, and those who rule the Tower are so far beyond her that she may as well not exist to them.

Inventory:
Luna is in possession of a Pocket - a floating spherical device used by Regulars as a combination storage device, mobile phone, and computer. Controlled via mental commands, it can store objects even much larger than itself, reproduce them on command, turn invisible and intangible on demand, and run a wide variety of apps. However, much of its utility - the storage system in particular - is handled via a direct connection to the Pocket Vault, where most items are physically stored. Without that connection, it is operating in the magical equivalent of airplane mode, storing only a fraction of the near-limitless capacity of the real deal.

Contained inside:
- Various cute outfits
- Makeup kit
- Emergency snacks
- Meds
